Jane Pepper, who as head of PHS oversees the Philadelphia Flower Show and Philadelphia Green, was recently honored with the 2009 WOMAN ONE award from Drexel University College of Medicine’s Institute for Women’s Health and Leadership for her contributions to the community and to the cause of women’s leadership.
She received the award at an April 27 fundraising event, which supports medical school scholarships for talented minority women who plan to become physicians in medically underserved communities.
Past winners have included Stephanie Naidoff (’08), Risa Lavizzo-Mourey, M.D. (’07), Suzanne Roberts (’06); Dawn Staley (’05); Leslie Anne Miller (’04); and Estelle Richman (’03);
“Jane Pepper’s qualifications are superb,” Institute Director Lynn Yeakel said in a press release. “She combines vision with sensitivity in setting an example for other leaders to follow. Like our previous six honorees, she is a model for our 11 WOMAN ONE scholars.”
