Billions of Blossoming Bougainvilleas

boug1If you’ve ever been to a Mediterranean climate, be it Italy or the US Southwest, you’ve probably seen the bougainvillea vines climbing everywhere.

Pronounced boo-gan-vee-uh, these colorful plants light up the dry, arrid landscape with their hot magenta and pink colors.  Interestingly, these are not flowers–they’re the plant’s leaves or bracts.

No matter; they’re gorgeous anyway and there are buh-billions of them coming to the Flower Show. Here are photos of some plants, still bagged up from shipping and ready to be unleashed upon spring-hungry Show visitors.
