When speaking with many of the Flower Show exhibitors I was surprised—and impressed—by how many have embraced cutting-edge green practices. For instance, Michael Petrie’s Handmade Gardens uses organic potting soil from a local merchant; Mark Cook Landscape Contracting is featuring native plants and a sustainable landscape; and Lorenz Landscape Contractors is well-versed in the merits of rainwater harvesting.
Perhaps the most innovative example though is how the folks at Moda Botanica are repurposing plastic water bottles to create stunning lighting effects (pictured at left). And, naturally, they’ll all be recycled later.
