Italy’s Magical “Lakes Region”

stoneybankHere’s a valuable Flower Show tip: Remember, most every exhibit offers multiple views, so be sure to stroll around them all. This year Stoney Bank Nurseries proves this to be true as they offer a two-sided exhibit unlike anything I’ve ever seen at the Show.

Another reason to check out the Stoney Bank exhibit is to admire how they work with spacing and sizing to create an illusion of depth. Both of the gardens they’ve constructed–which reflect the style of Italy’s Lake Region–seem almost boundless!

Highlights of the plant palette include topiary spirals, weeping taxodium, blue agave, and cardboard palms (that’s just their name–they are only ever “real” plants at the Flower Show). In fact, designer Jack Blandy told me he believes the Stoney Bank display has the most variety of any exhibit here. Looking at this enchanted garden, I’m inclined to agree.
