A Miniature Marvel

I'd like to vacation there!

I just spoke with a blue ribbon winner, Lucille Dickerson, who created a fantastic miniature setting for the ’09 Show. She told me the idea for her spacious villa setting came from the cover of a book called Private Tuscany. “I was at the bookstore looking for inspiration. I saw the picture on the front and instantly knew what I wanted to do.”

2009 was Lucille’s fourth year exhibiting at the Show. Her first outing earned her an honorable mention, the next year she came in third, and in ’08 advanced to second place. Now she has a blue ribbon to round out her collection.

Which is not to say Lucille is slowing down. She’s already pondering what to put together for 2010, Passport to the World. “Because the miniature category is pretty broad this year, I can almost do whatever I like. St. Thomas is special to me—I spent 30 years there—so when I go in July I’ll be looking for ideas.”

Have a great trip, Lucille; we’ll see you next spring!
