Tourism Ireland, which joined the Flower Show for the awe-inspiring “Legends of Ireland” presentation in 2007, will be joining the ranks of this year’s live culinary demonstrations at the Show.

On Monday March 1, Tourism Ireland will present “A Taste of Ireland.” The famed Noel McMeel, executive head chef at the five-star Lough Erne Golf Resort, in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, will share his expertise.

McMeel, a  star of the BBC’s Great British Menu (top chefs compete for the chance to cook a four-course banquet for a high-profile figure) and called the face of Irish food in America, has cooked for everyone from the Queen and Paul McCartney to presidents Clinton and Bush. His style of food is fresh and uncomplicated.

“There will always be the latest thing in the food world, but for me these words that are in vogue at the moment – organic, fresh, taste, simple, changing seasons, local, actually cooking and knowledge – will always be the latest food trends,” he said. “I have always been convinced that the best-tasting food is organically grown and harvested in ways that are ecologically sound, by people who are taking care of the land for future generations.  After all food like that speaks for itself.”
