Nearly 90 shops and attractions across the Philadelphia region are participating in the 2010 Philadelphia International Flower Show’s 15th Annual Phlower Power Window Decorating Contest to kick off spring and tap into the more than 250,000 visitors that will come to Philadelphia for the Show.

The 2010 Philadelphia International Flower Show Passport to the World, presented by PNC, will be held Feb. 28 – March 7 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

Windows in Chestnut Hill, Chinatown, Fabric Row, Fairmount, the Main Line, Manayunk, Midtown Village, Mt. Airy, Northern Liberties, Kensington, Old City, Rittenhouse, South Philadelphia, University City, and Easton, Pa., are festooned with floral and worldly décor.

The public can vote for “Crowd Favorite” today by e-mailing press@pennhort.org until 5 p.m.

Become a fan of the Flower Show on Facebook and check out photos of the contestants’ windows.

A panel of PHS judges will pick the winners in 15 categories ranging from “Most Creative” to “Best Interpretation of Flower Show Theme.” Awards will be presented at a press conference on Friday, Feb. 26 at 10 a.m. at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

“People from all over the world come to the Flower Show,” PHS President Jane Pepper said. “These businesses help spread the word about what Philadelphia has to offer.”

Each spring, the Philadelphia International Flower Show generates an overall impact of more than $35 million for restaurants, hotels, shops, businesses, and cultural attractions in and around Philadelphia.

“It’s wonderful to see neighborhood small-business owners in and around the City participate in this contest and take on the role as a Flower Show ambassador,” said Bill Mills, president of PNC, Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. “We applaud their creativity and effort.”

The Philadelphia International Flower Show is the largest indoor flower show in the world. Proceeds of the Show, which is produced by the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, support Philadelphia Green, PHS’ award-winning urban greening program.

PHS would like to thank the following businesses for participating in the contest or hanging Flower Show posters in their windows.
