Williamson Wows with a Forest-themed Display

by

The earth’s ecology is inter-related. Which is why the students of the Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades wanted Flower Show visitors to think broadly and truly appreciate the complexity of the earth’s forest environments. Titled “Forests and Man,” the exhibit revealed ways of making our lifestyles more earth-friendly. In addition to signage, the students produced and starred in a video that explained the importance of the issue.

In order to incorporate the travel theme of this year’s Show, this exhibit celebrated and featured the surprising number of plant genera that are native to both the People’s Republic of China and the eastern United States. The plant list includes maples, rhododendrons, azaleas, hollies, oaks, magnolias, cherries, birch, dogwoods and viburnums. As they say, it’s a small world after all.
