Hot Topics Coming to PHS Fall Garden Festival

The PHS Fall Garden Festival  coming up on Saturday, Sept. 11, will offer more than free family fun. Three mini lectures will take place on some hot topics for fall.

At 11 a.m., Lori Hayes from The Horticulture Center at Fairmount Park will talk about Autumn Tree Care. Lori is a trainer and teacher for the PHS Gardening Series, Tree Tenders, Garden Tenders, Green City Teachers program, and is a judge for the City Gardens Contest (winners will be announced at the festival).  This Mt. Airy resident, a Penn State Master Gardener and certified arborist, also lectures at the Philadelphia International Flower Show.

At noon,  Lorraine Kiefer from Franklinville, N.J.’s Triple Oaks Nursery, will talk about Using Your Herbs. Lorraine has been a Flower Show presenter for several years.

At 3 p.m., Master Gardener Leomar Cooper will talk about Bringing your Houseplants Indoors. Leomar, chair of the Philadelphia Green Advisory Board, is a tireless volunteer at the Flower Show. This Awbury Community Gardener also belongs to several plant societies.

We can’t wait!
