Getting Ready for Paris – Fairy Style

The major floral and landscape designers aren’t the only ones getting ready for “Springtime in Paris.” We just heard from Markeplace vendor Alice Calhoun of Copper Curls® Sculpture who is hard at work on all her new designs for the 2011 Philadelphai International Flower Show.

“There will surely be Toulouse Lautrec, Degas, and maybe even Renoir-inspired dancers since I love dance and dancers so much,” said Calhoun, who has been to Paris eight times and is planning another trip this Christmas. “I’ll also continue with flower faeries based on my visits to Paris in the late spring and early summer, most specifically to Bagatelle and Roseraie de L’Hay near Paris.”

Calhoun already has two new flower faerie designs and may have one or two more. The museum of medieval art in Paris, Musee de Cluny, is serving a source of inspiration. During her trip this holiday season, she is hoping to find a painting that will produce something as special as Botticelli’s Primavera did for the 2009 Flower Show. Many more surprises to unveil!
