Drew Becher and a group of 90 PHS friends had the privilege of visiting the White House on December 21 to see the elegant holiday decorations. Laura Dowling, esteemed White House florist, orchestrated this exciting opportunity.
Attendees marveled over the fantastic displays adorning the White House’s stately rooms, including formal hallways and several plush sitting rooms. Wreaths, holly berries, and lights added holiday flair to hearths, doorways, and windows. Decorations of red and green tied together the “Deck the Halls and Welcome All” theme. A 350-pound gingerbread White House (coated in white chocolate, of course) was a favorite of many.
After the tour, the PHS group also made a brief stop at the U.S. Botanic Garden to view the displays. All in all it was a wonderful way to wrap up 2010!
