Michael Bruce’s Recycled Shadows

by

If you have a shadow of a doubt about this year’s Flower Show, head over to Michael Bruce’s Urban Graffiti Shadow Art exhibit (823 Haddon Ave., Collingswood, NJ 08108) and you will be pleasantly surprised. Let your eyes play tricks on you as you take in four different structures made from recycled products and trash. What at first looks discombobulated turns into something fabulous and oh-so-French when the shadows take shape.

Four French images are projected onto the screen, including a can-can dancer made with tin cans and a paper-made French woman walking her plastic bag French poodle. With items made from actual trash spilling out onto the floor,  this exhibit is  anything but safe. “We are not perfect,” Michael Bruce says, “It’s just not what I pride myself on because I know it is something I will never be. What I can do is inspire and provoke.”
