Patti Labelle, who taught us all the French phrase, “Voulez–vous coucher avec moi (ce soir),” visited “Springtime in Paris” on Thursday afternoon at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The Wynnewood native had never been to the Philadelphia International Flower Show before, she explained, because of her touring schedule.
Her first impressions of the show? “I’m in wonderland.”
Patti was guided around the show floor by PHS President Drew Becher and Flower Show Director of Design Sam Lemheney. The visit was coordinated by Convention Center event manager Don Johnson, who in a previous life sang back-up for LaBelle.
Patti admired the tulips surrounding the Eiffel Tower and the floral and landscape exhibits, and received an insider’s tour of the exhibit by David and Robin Heller of Langhorne. She also watched a demonstration in the new Floral Showcase by Rick Cuneo, of the Cherry Hill Flower Barn, who gave LaBelle the finished product: a gorgeous bouquet of “intuition” roses.
“I’ve always been a flower queen,” Labelle said.
