Sneak Preview of Restaurant Week 2011

by

Unrelenting heat couldn’t keep the crowds away from the PHS Pops Up Garden yesterday as everyone wanted to hear the latest news about Philadelphia’s Restaurant Week. True, Center City District’s Restaurant Week, presented by TD Bank, doesn’t start until September—but it’s never too soon to whet our collective appetite.

As of today, 120 restaurants will participate in Restaurant Week, offering three-course dinners for $35 (and, in many cases, three-course lunches for $20). To assist patrons, CCD announced it will launch a mobile website for on-the-go planning and menu browsing.

Also new in 2011: a partnership with Philly Homegrown that will promote fresh ingredients and real Philadelphia flavor.

Speakers for the event included:

Paul Levy, President and CEO, Center City District
Meryl Levitz, President and CEO, Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation
Drew Becher, President, Pennsylvania Horticultural Society
Ron Matthew, Greater Philadelphia Market President, TD Bank
Chris DiGennaro, General Manager, R2L Restaurant

Below are photos from the event. If you’ve enjoyed Restaurant Week in the past, tell us the mouth-watering details in the comments section.
