Have you ever attended a PHS garden trip? If not, this October presents the perfect opportunity. PHS members and guests have a golden opportunity to spend four days touring numerous private and public gardens in and around Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, and Richmond, Virginia.
This trip includes sites that delve into both American and exotic gardens and will introduce participants to some extraordinary gardeners. En route to Charlottesville, the first visit is to centuries-old Chatham Manor, designed by Philadelphia-born landscape architect Ellen Biddle Shipman. Another dose of national pride can be found in the historical house and gardens of Monticello, owned and designed by Thomas Jefferson. At the Victorian-era estate of Maymont, members can view the spectacular designs of Gilded Age and gardens reflecting Italian, Japanese, and English styles, respectively. A total of 10 visits are planned.
From the cooking class opportunities at the Boar’s Head Inn to wine tasting at the Jefferson Vineyards, this PHS Garden Trip has a balance of touring and recreation. Don’t miss out on an excursion that will prove to be informative, beautiful, and (above all) fun! For more information, please contact Chela Kleiber at 215-988-8775 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
