Flower Show Season is Officially Here!

Last week was a pretty big one for the Flower Show crew. On Thursday we had our annual press kick-off; a fantastic event that increased buzz and enthusiasm for the Show throughout the region.

The Show theme, “Hawaii: Islands of Aloha,” was represented through tropical décor by Waldor Orchids and Robertson’s Flowers, traditional music and hula performances by Aloha Style Dance Troupe, and with fruits, juices, and Hawaiian breads courtesy of our host, the Loews Hotel Philadelphia.

Featured speakers included Mayor Michael Nutter, PHS President Drew Becher, and Flower Show Designer Sam Lemheney, who gave guests an insider’s look at the Show’s new offerings and exhibits. Representatives from Subaru (Flower Show Premier Sponsor) and Bank of America (Flower Show Exclusive Sponsor) also provided remarks. The Lorax was there too!

The media (print, broadcast, and online) came out in full force to cover the kick-off. If you were watching TV that evening, you may have seen a clip on 6ABC, Fox29, CBS3, NBC10, City of Philadelphia Government Access Channel, WRTI, and WHYY Newsworks

If you missed it, you can read the articles that appeared on CBS3, the Delaware County Daily Times, Newsworks.orgPhiladelphia Business Journal, Philebrity Blog, and Philly.com.

That ought to keep you busy!

As fun as Thursday was, Friday was equally exhilarating. All morning (despite the rain) the Flower Show Poster Patrol blanketed the region with Flower Show imagery. Perhaps you saw our poster at your hair dresser, coffee shop, laundromat, or some other retail location you visited over the weekend.

Everyone agreed the best part of the day was meeting the people from all walks of life who are excited about the Show. Check out the Facebook photo album to meet some of the fabulous folks we encountered.

If you are interested in entering a floral arrangement in the 2012 Philadelphia International Flower Show, there is still time. Contact me and I would be happy to tell you all about it.
