The 2011 Philadelphia International Flower Show

The 2011 Flower Show will Toast the Gardening and Culture of Paris!

With the 2010 Flower Show drawing crowds to the Pennsylvania Convention Center through March 7, planning for next year’s Show has begun in earnest.

PHS, producer of the famed event, announced that the Show theme for next year will be “Springtime in Paris” to be held March 6 – March 13, 2011, a nod to the world’s most popular tourist destination.

“From Moulin Rouge to the Musee d’Orsay, Paris intrigues and entertains like no other city,” said Show Designer Sam Lemheney.

Featured displays will draw from the Louvre, the Musee d’Orsay, artists such as Renoir, Monet, and van Gogh; modern art collections of the National d’Art et de Culture Georges Pompidou; and the beloved Cimetiere du Pere Lachaise and le Catacombes where the remains of Chopin, Moliere, Gertrude Stein, Jim Morrison, and Oscar Wilde reside.

The Philadelphia International Flower Show is produced by PHS and presented by PNC. PHS has 16,000 members throughout the country, offers hundreds of educational programs year-round, and is considered the nation’s leading authority on urban renewal through greening. The Flower Show benefits Philadelphia Green, PHS’s acclaimed program that restores neighborhood parks, creates community gardens, conducts large-scale tree plantings, revitalizes vacant land, engages thousands of citizens in community development activities, and maintains treasured public landscapes. As the nation’s largest comprehensive community greening program, Philadelphia Green serves as a model for cities across the U.S.

I’m trying to organize ladies for the opening day and am looking for a nice place for brunch with good ambiance and food in keeping with the theme…any suggestions?

    • Daniel Says:

Great question, Daisy. I’ll ask around and get you an answer.

    • Daniel Says:

Here are some suggestions, Daisy. What could be more Parisian than a bistro? Look into Bistro La Minette and Bistro St. Tropex. Also the Sofitel Hotel has great food offerings with French flair.

Also, let your group know that Thursday, March 10 is Girls’ Night Out at the Flower Show. Stay tuned for more info.

  19. Daisy Says:

Thanks very much! We’ll go with Bistro St tropez – asked friends and they said the same thing….hiow near is St tropez to the Flower Show – is it a reasonable walking distance since it’ll still be cold?

  20. HOWARD ERYOU Says:

Is there a DVD of the show that you can purchase online or in philly or jersey?

    • Daniel Says:

Howard, the answer is yes! Well, almost. A DVD of the Show will be filmed, produced, and printed over the next few days. By the end of the Show you will able to order the DVD online at theflowershow.com. Visit that site in a week or so and look for the link. If you have any trouble, let us know here on the blog. Thanks!
